Name: Sabo
Canon: One Piece (animanga)
Age: 22
Gender: Male, he/him
Species: Human
Appearance: ONE • TWO • THREE | additionally, his burn scars likely cover a swath of his left side due to the explosion he was caught in as a child and his left eye is probably more fucked up than it's drawn (think Zuko fucked up), but this is more of a headcanon than strictly canon. I'm happy to also play it getting worse as he becomes corrupted by his Natural Soul.
Canon point: Chapter 1086 • Episode 1120 | after witnessing the destruction of Lulusia (in flashback)
History: Wiki
Personality answers:
1. Who in your character's canon influenced the most growth in your character? What do they think about this character?
Luffy, his sworn brother. While Ace was Sabo's first and best friend (and sworn brother later), it's Luffy who challenges Sabo to look at the world differently (especially where it concerns Sabo's noble heritage), stimulates his curiosity and creativity, and who inspires an almost maternal side of Sabo. Luffy is his annoying, crybaby little brother he loves more than anything and would do literally anything for, including murder and laying down his own life. Initially, Sabo thought very little of Luffy, even suggesting that he and Ace kill him for discovering their secret pirate stash — but in short time, Luffy became someone who could always make Sabo laugh with his childish antics, whimsy, and endless optimism, and someone Sabo was prepared to suffer for by sacrificing his freedom to ensure Sabo's father wouldn't harm his brothers. Without Luffy, Sabo likely wouldn't even be alive in a world without Ace, or he'd be exponentially more unhinged. Creating a better world for Luffy to fulfill his true dream, and seeing him achieve his goal to become King of the Pirates, is truly what Sabo lives for — if Luffy needs his help, Sabo will quite literally drop everything and go to him.
2. Explain which event in canon is most pivotal to your character's development, and who they are today.
When Sabo was ten, he attempted to sail away from the Goa Kingdom to live a free life as a pirate after he was essentially held hostage by his noble parents who only ever saw him as an object to achieve higher social status and wealth (they even replaced him with an adopted, more brainwashed son after he ran away the first time). However, his boat was blown out of the water for daring to cross paths with a Celestial Dragon ship that was bound for the kingdom. This incident led to the loss of his memory and while he was rescued by the Revolutionary Army, he had no idea who he was for the next ten years. His identity became something crafted by the Army and by a gut feeling that he could never go back to his parents. Having no memory of the childhood years spent with Ace and Luffy, he fails to realize his brother is to be executed at Marineford — and the guilt of not being there, along with his dedication to honoring Ace's memory, shapes a large part of who Sabo is once he does regain his memories.
3. What is your character's biggest ambition at their current canon point? To what lengths would they go to see it to fruition?
Dismantling the World Government and removing the Celestial Dragons (World Nobles) from power, by any means necessary — and he'll either succeed or die trying. He is fully prepared for a full-scale war, something he and the Revolutionary Army have been planning for decades. When he discovered the Empty Throne was not, in fact, empty, he brazenly attempted to challenge Imu and the Five Elders, barely escaping with his life (he said No More level-grinding, we take on the Final Boss too early like a Man). His hatred of the World Government and World Nobles extends to the Marines as well (he considers them no more than the WG's blindly loyal attack dogs), and on numerous occasions he has had no qualms with attempting to murder Marine personnel of varying ranks. If anyone tries to get in his way, they'd better get out fast, as he is very reluctant to show mercy to enemies he considers a real threat.
4. What would be your character's lowest, darkest moment they've lived through? How did they respond to their troubles and face their demons?
Learning of Ace's death in the wake of the Summit War. Seeing Ace's picture in the paper triggers the return of Sabo's childhood memories, which is so traumatic (knowing he'll never get to see Ace again and wasn't there to save him at Marineford) that he has a severe mental breakdown and is incapacitated for three days. Once he recovers, he throws himself even more into his work with the Revolutionary Army. Eventually, this leads him to Dressrosa, where he discovers Ace's fruit is the grand prize of a gladiator tournament and he becomes single-mindedly determined to win it so he can carry on Ace's legacy. Before the tournament, he reunites with Luffy, and this soothes some of Sabo's regret — Ace may be dead, but at least Luffy is still alive and Sabo wasn't left alone without any brothers. Later, when a crewmate of Blackbeard (the man who turned Ace into the Marines) taunts Sabo about his absence from Marineford, Sabo nearly crushes the man's skull for speaking ill of Ace, furious at the insinuation that Sabo chose not to save his brother despite having the power and position to do so. Instead, he vows to himself not to live with anymore regrets because Ace never did, and he is now Ace's living memory. He blasts Burgess with Fire Fist, Ace's signature move, saying "Ace" (literally the flames) wouldn't let Sabo go easy on him. He's coping just fine! [citation needed]

• One (1) metal pipe, roughly 6ft tall
• Luffy's updated wanted poster
• A copy of the newspaper revealing the names and photos of the Four Emperors in the wake of Kaidou and Big Mom's defeat
Powers/Abilities:
LEADERSHIP | Despite being relatively young, Sabo was promoted to the Revolutionary Army's Chief of Staff (second-in-command) when he was just seventeen, and has continued to be Dragon's right-hand man ever since — a testament to how well he is trusted and respected among the Army. He led one of the Army's most important missions: infiltrating the Holy Land during the quadrennial Levely (or World Summit, a council meeting of monarchs affiliated with the World Government), using his tactical skills to deploy Army members most effectively in order to rescue Bartholomew Kuma, free slaves, raze the Holy Land's food supply, and declare war on the World Government. Even still, he tends to follow his intuition and instincts over "the plan" — as seen when he nearly attacks a Celestial Dragon outright for humiliating Kuma, which would have blown their cover if he hadn't been forcibly restrained — and often would rather work alone (so as not to put anyone else in more danger, but also sometimes because he has ulterior motives).
PHYSICAL PROWESS | Sabo has been training in martial arts since he was a child and is extremely proficient in both hand-to-hand, stick fighting, and parkour, and has always possessed a natural agility and stealth from his childhood years of being a thief — abilities that were all exponentially honed in training with the Revolutionaries. He has also mastered the "Dragon Claw Fist" style, which empowers his grip to potentially lethal levels (he can crack a man's skull like an egg), and by exerting force on the core of an object or structure with his "claws" he can easily destroy it from the inside out with a single blow.
INTELLIGENCE | Sabo began living on his own at the age of five and was already largely self-sufficient by the age of ten. Before running away, his studies as a noble child were extremely rigorous and far more advanced than what might be expected from a typical kindergartener, though Sabo was only ever really interested in navigation and seafaring (thus the rest of his studies suffered). While living in the wilderness with Ace and Luffy, Sabo was able to fully design, engineer, and build a treehouse with the help of his brothers — and also engineered intricate Rube Goldberg-style traps to keep anyone out. Out of the three brothers, Sabo is the pragmatic one, and usually the one with the ideas for getting them out of trouble. He's an excellent problem solver, quick-thinker, and is always able to improvise his way out of a bad situation.
HAKI | Haki is an innate ability that exists in every living thing in the One Piece universe that can be awakened through mental and physical training and is generally understood as the energy of one's will (literally willpower) or a physical manifestation of that energy. Sabo possesses two types of haki: Observation, which is a kind of extrasensory perception that allows him to sense the presence, power, intent, and emotions of those around him and hear the "voices" of living things; and Armament, which involves channeling the energy of his will into a physical "armor" that can protect him and any weapons/objects he wields, as well as significantly increasing his own strength and attacks.
DEVIL FRUIT | Sabo ate the Mera Mera no Mi (Flame Flame Fruit) after Ace's death, and is now classified as a "Logia" user, meaning he can create, control, and become fire at will. This intangibility allows him to move very quickly, fly, and makes it nearly impossible to land any strikes against him or even kill him — without using haki, exposing him to seastone, or submerging him in any body of water (he will sink and can no longer swim). He can manipulate the flame's temperature and runs naturally hot (he's basically an overpowered space heater), and in terms of strength and size of the flames, the only limitation is his own stamina. He is also recognized by the world at large as being an extremely dangerous threat (with even greater influence than Dragon), earning the title of "Flame Emperor" after his encounter with the Five Elders and subsequent framing for the murder of King Nefertari Cobra.

Player Goals:
REVOLUTION!!! Sabo's interests will always be aligned with overthrowing the government and liberating the people (or inspiring the people to liberate themselves), which I absolutely intend to follow through on in-game the minute he catches any whiff of inequality or oppressive government control. Having grown up in noble society and despised it, he's going to have a very bad time adjusting to polite society again (hitting some of his biggest triggers) and I'm excited to explore how Karterian society (but mostly the upper class) and his distrust of Patho-Gen is going to make him so much worse. He's anti-establishment to his core and will not want to play by the rules, especially considering how much Karteria is going to remind him of the Goa Kingdom & Mary Geoise, so he'll likely fall in with the Wrong(?) Crowd and cause problems on purpose. Did someone ask for a class war?! ❤️🔥
I'm also very interested in seeing him become more unhinged without a lot of the people around him who would otherwise keep him in check, and more specifically in the ways the corruption from his Natural Soul might interplay with his Devil Fruit. And, of course, with Ace in the game, there's the matter of exploring how two instances of the Mera Mera might interact with each other and their respective Natural Souls (which I've discussed with Pax already). Regardless, Ace and Sabo are going to be a force to be reckoned with — and together I'm sure they'll be very keen to investigate Patho-Gen and try to uncover any secrets being kept from the people and/or Augmented, as well as causing a little (or a lot of) trouble along the way. Looking forward to absolutely tanking the reputation of the Augmented! (Sorry to everyone else who just wants to mind their own business.)
